Liverpool lost a number of their key leaders in the summer.
Jordan Henderson, James Milner and Fabinho all left the club at the end of last season, and they left a serious void in their wake.
However, while Liverpool lost plenty of leaders in the summer, by the sounds of it, other players have stepped up.
Speaking on his podcast, Ben Foster has shared a sneak preview into an interview he did with Jurgen Klopp this week, and he says that Klopp told him that Alisson Becker has really stepped up as a leader at Anfield after a summer of departures.

Foster shared what Klopp told him.
“I did an interview in the week actually with Jurgen Klopp. He was a legend by the way. A lovely bloke. It was for Amazon and he spoke to me about some of the leaders and I mentioned that Jordan Henderson and James Milner left and how detrimental it could be for the team, but he said they have so many leaders in the team people like you wouldn’t even believe would be leaders. Alisson the goalkeeper, he was singing his praises saying he’s one of the top guys looking after Kelleher this week and he was top class,” Foster said.
Great to see
It’s great to hear that Alisson is stepping up as a leader at Liverpool.
The dressing room dynamics at Anfield could’ve been altered for the worse after the summer of departures, but it looks as though this team is gelling just as well as it ever has.
Virgil van Dijk is a perfect captain, while Trent Alexander-Arnold has been fantastic as his deputy too.
Alisson may not have an official role in that capacity, but, by the sounds of it, he’s really stepping up as a leader behind the scenes.
