115 Alexis Mac Allister was the coolest man in Anfield on Sunday as he smashed his penalty past Ederson to equalise for Liverpool.
The Argentine didn’t show any nerves when taking his spot kick, and, actually, before he took his penalty he did something very interesting.
Indeed, speaking on the Official Liverpool Podcast, Phil Thompson spoke about Mac Allister’s penalty and as he watched from the stands, he noticed that the Argentine was actually laughing with a teammate before he took his penalty as Ederson was taking plenty of time to get treatment on his injury.

Thompson shared what he noticed Mac Allister doing before Liverpool’s equaliser.
“There was a moment and you probably didn’t see it that they have shown where he actually starts laughing. It takes so long and he looks at someone and he’s having a little laugh. That was a huge penalty, but he hit it with such precision, immaculate,” Thompson said.
Unflustered
This is what makes Mac Allister such an amazing player.
The biggest game of the season, and you’re taking a penalty against one of the best goalkeepers in the world and you’re laughing. That is an almost unhinged mentality.
However, that’s what makes Mac Allister so great. He’s never flustered in the big moments, and he can always deliver when it matters most.
Strangely, we had more confidence in Mac Allister taking this penalty than we would’ve had if Mohamed Salah was on the pitch to take it, and perhaps, that’s a change Jurgen Klopp may want to look into making. After all, Salah missed a few key penalties over the past 18 months while Mac Allister has been almost immaculate from the spot.
The Argentine may well be the Reds’ best penalty taker these days.
