Replacing any manager at a big club is difficult, but Liverpool have one of the biggest tasks ever on their hands as they look for Jurgen Klopp‘s successor.
The German is one of the best managers in the world. He has taken Liverpool to a whole new level over the years, and he’s about to leave some big shoes to fill.
There have been plenty of names thrown into the mix since the news came out yesterday, but the one who seems to be everyone’s preferred option is Xabi Alonso.
The Spaniard has led Bayer Leverkusen to the top of the Bundesliga table, and his team have been a joy to watch so far this season.
Ian Wright had his say on Liverpool’s managerial situation, and he too has backed Alonso to replace Klopp at Anfield in the summer.
He said on the Wrighty’s House podcast: “Can I just throw something in there? Xabi Alonso!
“The energy of Xabi and the way he is, you could see him going to Liverpool and doing it. It’s sad news Jurgen Klopp is leaving Liverpool at the end of the season.”

Liverpool‘s owners will have a lot to think about in the next few months as they weigh up their options to replace Jurgen Klopp.
Xabi Alonso is the name on almost everyone’s mind now, and he would be an amazing option.
The 42-year-old already has the Liverpool fans on his side. He knows the club very well, has good experience under his belt now and completely deserves an opportunity at a big club.
Appointing Alonso as the next Liverpool manager makes a lot of sense, but whether FSG thinks he’s the right fit remains to be seen.
