Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp seems to be excited about Stefan Bajcetic.
Liverpool’s Carabao Cup final win over Chelsea saw a number of young players feature off the bench.
Bobby Clark, James McConnell, Jarell Quansah and Jayden Danns all came on in a major success story for the Liverpool development ranks.
There was no Stefan Bajcetic though as his difficult season continues.
The 19-year-old burst onto the scene last season but an adductor issue has plagued him throughout the campaign.
Bajcetic hasn’t kicked a ball in the Premier League and has only played 72 minutes of action across all competitions.
This has been a lost season for Bajcetic, who should have been one of the youngsters making history in the Carabao Cup final.
Jurgen Klopp on Stefan Bajcetic
The hope is that Bajcetic will return sooner rather than later, and he has now wowed by Jurgen Klopp.
Klopp, as quoted by Anfield Watch, admitted that he wondered just why Bajcetic isn’t playing for Liverpool right now.
Klopp saw Bajcetic around the Liverpool training ground and was wowed after seeing him running around and ramping up his fitness levels.
The Liverpool boss noted that it’s not his decision when it comes to Bajcetic’s return, believing that there must be a reason for his absence.

“I had lunch here and saw him training. I sat there and thought ‘why is he not playing?'” said Klopp. “He’s obviously gaining fitness now. He’s running around like ‘wow!’ He’s doing everything but he didn’t get [the] green light yet for us for the team training. And there’s nobody in this building who wants to hold him back, so there might be some reasons.”
“He’s pain-free, completely pain-free, which is the most important thing. All checks we made, scans again, bone looks good, all fine. Now we just need to make sure of the moment [we decide] we use him again in normal training because the difficulty of football is such a complex sport for the body. For me he looks good, but how good, I get told. I cannot decide. Nobody told me he will be back soon,” he added.
Bajcetic will be a welcome addition to the Liverpool squad having already shown major talent in the Reds engine room
That he missed Sunday’s game and saw other young players take the limelight will hurt a little, and we think the Spaniard will be absolutely desperate to make up for lost time when he does come back.
