‘Wow’: Alan Brazil reacts after Stuart Pearce predicts who’ll win the Premier League this season

Just a point separates Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City as we head into the business end of the Premier League season.

Mikel Arteta’s side moved above Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool last weekend with a convincing win at the Amex Stadium.

Arsenal made it 10 wins from their last 11 Premier League games while Manchester City also impressed in a 4-2 victory at Crystal Palace. Liverpool were made to rue their missed opportunities in a 2-2 draw at Old Trafford last time out.

With the Gunners currently leading the way, Arteta’s side have been labelled ‘favourites’ to lift the title come May.

Pep Guardiola will undoubtedly have other plans and his City side have become notorious for finishing campaigns in near-flawless fashion.

Former City defender Stuart Pearce has now shared who he thinks will be crowned champions and it left Alan Brazil slightly surprised.

Pearce’s Premier League prediction

Speaking on talkSPORT, Pearce was asked to deliver his verdict on this season’s title race.

Given his short spell at City, it was a surprise to hear the defender opt against Guardiola’s side.

“I said last summer I didn’t think Man City would win it so I’m sticking with that,” Pearce said. “At this stage, I’m going to go for Arsenal.

“Wow,” Alan Brazil responded. “A lot of people have done that now. Does that mean they have to win every game now?”

“It’s fair to say that if any team in the running lose a game, I don’t think they’ll win the title,” Pearce added.

“They certainly cannot afford to lose a game, maybe a draw. But it’s such a great title race this year. It’s absolutely magnificent.“

Arsenal face tougher fixtures than Liverpool and Man City

While Arsenal technically have their fate in their own hands with seven games left to play, their run of fixtures look difficult on paper.

The Gunners face away games at Tottenham, Wolves and Manchester United but will play at the Emirates four times.

As for Liverpool, they also have a Merseyside Derby at Goodison Park, as well as a difficult trip to Aston Villa.

City will travel to Tottenham on May 14 and it isn’t exactly a place where they have excelled in the past.
