Declan Rice has proven to be one of the signings of the summer.
The Arsenal star has hit the ground running since arriving at the Emirates, and many must now be envious of the Gunners’ summer business.
Speaking on The Game Football Podcast, Tony Cascarino has been discussing Arsenal’s move for Rice, and he reckons that many of the top Premier League clubs would’ve loved to have signed Rice this summer, naming Liverpool as one team who would surely have wanted to bring Rice in during the last transfer window.

Cascarino shared his verdict on the Arsenal star.
“Choosing Arsenal, Liverpool would’ve wanted him, Chelsea would’ve wanted him, City would’ve wanted him, anyone who could’ve afforded him, every club in the world wanted Roy Keane at one time and he’s not far off that Declan Rice, I’ve been impressed in every way about him,” Cascarino said.
Would’ve been perfect
If there’s one thing Liverpool are lacking at the moment it’s that holding midfield player, and Rice would’ve been absolutely perfect for that role.
Unfortunately, Liverpool didn’t ever seem to really get involved in that race, and they may well live to regret that.
£105m is, of course, a lot of money, but given that Liverpool did bid £111m for Moises Caicedo in the summer transfer window, they perhaps could’ve afforded this move at the time.
Ultimately, Rice ended up at Arsenal, and he’s already looking like a difference-maker for the Gunners as the north London club push for their first Premier League title for 20 years.
Make no mistake about it, these top clubs will be ruing the fact they didn’t sign Rice this summer, and it could cost them the chance at the title as Rice potentially leads Arsenal to glory.
