Liverpool may be out of the title race, but make no mistake about it, the Merseyside club have given it a really good go this season.
Indeed, Liverpool are still on track to rack up more than 80 points which is a respectable tally for any side.
There really isn’t that much to separate Liverpool from Arsenal and Manchester City, and speaking on Three Up Front with Simon Jordan, Graeme Souness has been discussing how Liverpool’s squad shapes up against Arsenal and City.
Souness stated that he believes Mohamed Salah would start for both clubs, labelling the winger as ‘world class’.

Souness spoke about Salah and the idea that he’d get into Arsenal or City’s teams.
“I think he would get in both teams. I think in his period at Liverpool you have to say he’s been world class. I think he gets in anyone’s team. Goals change games and people talk about who is the best player you ever played with, they way I would want to ask that question is who is the most influential player in that team. Now goals do influence games so he has had an enormous influence in the last five or six years.”
Liverpool can match City and Arsenal on paper
Souness is right, Salah would start for both Arsenal and City, and he’s not the only Liverpool player who fits into that bracket.
Indeed, the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Alisson Becker all have strong cases to make that they would also start for any team in the Premier League, as does Andy Robertson.
The core group of players is there for Liverpool, but, unfortunately, this season, the consistency and the depth hasn’t been there to sustain a title challenge until the end of the campaign.
