Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Wednesday’s Premier League fixture comes too soon for Reds goalkeeper Alisson Becker to return to action.
The Liverpool stopper picked up a hamstring issue late on during the Reds’ draw at Manchester City at the end of November.
Alisson missed out in Liverpool’s following two games, the 4-0 Europa League win over LASK and the 4-3 triumph over Fulham in the Premier League.
The Reds are next in action against Premier League bottom side Sheffield United at Bramall Lane in a 7:3-pm kickoff.
Speaking to the Liverpool media team on Tuesday ahead of the game, Klopp provided an injury update, focusing on three players in particular.

Klopp also said the trip to South Yorkshire comes too soon for Diogo Jota, who’s not yet back in team training.
“He was running yesterday outside – on his birthday,” the boss said of Jota.
“And everything goes in the right direction, but nobody told me he will be back in team training today. No, there is still some time.
“And with Ali the same. Obviously Ali is closer but not available for tomorrow definitely.”
It’s a shame Alisson remains out. He’s been an amazing player for Liverpool and continues to be one of the best in the world.
Luckily, Klopp has suggested that the £67million man isn’t going to be on the sidelines for that much longer. Let’s hope he’ll be back by the weekend.
After the trip to Sheffield United, Liverpool take on Crystal Palace in Saturday’s early Premier League kickoff, at 12:30pm.
