‘When you see his name’: Crystal Palace defender says Liverpool have a player he’s so scared of

Mohamed Salah must be one of the worst players to play against in world football.

The winger, quite literally, has it all.

He can beat you with his pace, his strength or his dribbling ability, and once he’s past you, you know that the ball is only ending up in one place – the back of the net.

Indeed, Salah isn’t just one of the fastest and strongest players around, he’s one of the best finishers the Premier League has ever seen too.

Speaking on Premier League Productions, Joel Ward has been discussing what it’s like to play against Salah, and he says that he always knows that he’s going to have a tough afternoon when he sees Salah’s name on the teamsheet.

Ward says Salah scares him

The defender spoke about the Liverpool star.

“I think he record speaks for itself and when you see his name on the teamsheet you know you’re in for a tough afternoon,” Ward said.

“You know, Mo Salah is a huge player for them and will continue to be so and I’m sure he’ll be back in the right place when he’s called upon.”

Frightening

We can absolutely understand why Ward is scared of Salah.

Could you imagine how difficult it must be to defend against Liverpool as a full-back?

Not only do you have Salah running at you, you also have Trent Alexander-Arnold just behind him waiting to create something special himself.

Alexander-Arnold and Salah may well be the most frightening double team in Premier League history, and we certainly don’t envy any defender who has ever been tasked with stopping these two.

Salah is out for a few weeks now with a hamstring injury, but unfortunately for Ward, it doesn’t look as though the winger will miss the Reds’ next game against Crystal Palace and it could be another long afternoon for the Eagles.
