Micah Richards met Liverpool star Virgil van Dijk recently, and one thing about the Dutchman seems to have shocked him.
The Reds are having a fine season, aren’t they? The Merseysiders are currently on top of the Premier League table and through to the quarter-finals of the Europa League.
Everything is going to plan for Jurgen Klopp‘s side to win the treble this season. They’ve already won the Carabao Cup, so a third of the job is done.
One player in particular has been key for Liverpool this season, and Richards says he felt small next to him, literally.

Liverpool are such a complete side, aren’t they?
The Reds struggled last season because of their weak midfield, but Jurgen Klopp addressed that issue in the summer, and they are now brilliant across the pitch.
Liverpool have arguably the most dangerous attack in the country, a really good midfield now and also a brilliant defence – the second-best in the Premier League.
You can’t talk about Liverpool’s backline without mentioning Virgil van Dijk, can you?
The Dutchman has been incredible this season. He is arguably still the best centre-back in the world and is one of the biggest reasons why Liverpool are where they are.
Speaking about Van Dijk after meeting him recently, Micah Richards expressed his shock at how big the Dutch international is compared to him.
He said on the Rest is Football podcast: “The size of him, honestly, I’m a big guy and he just dwarfed me.
“I was like what is going on? He’s so slender and he’s a good looking lad, isn’t he, Virg?”

Virgil van Dijk is a massive player, isn’t he?
The Dutchman, who is regarded as one of the best centre-backs of all time, towers over most other players in the Premier League and in Europe.
Micah Richards, who calls himself ‘a big guy’, stands at just under 5ft 11in. It’s no surprise that he felt Van Dijk was huge.
The Liverpool captain is 1.93m tall, which is 6ft 4in.
Only Joel Matip and Rhys Williams are taller than Van Dijk in the Reds squad. Both of them are 1.95m tall.
