Tony Cascarino believes that Liverpool have achieved something quite extraordinary in the last three games, as Jurgen Klopp’s side beat Nottingham Forest in dramatic circumstances on Saturday.
Liverpool extended their lead at the top of the Premier League table, with a massive win at the City Ground. It was Darwin Nunez who scored the 99th minute winner, doing brilliantly to divert Alexis Mac Allister’s cross into the bottom corner.
Liverpool have now won all but three of their 15 games in all competitions since Boxing Day. And that is a remarkable return considering how many injuries they have had to deal with, particularly in recent months.
Liverpool keep another clean sheet
Nunez has been praised following the win over Nottingham Forest. But speaking on talkSPORT, Tony Cascarino has suggested that those at the other end of the pitch should be getting more credit.

That’s three clean sheets in a row for Liverpool, which seems quite extraordinary, because they’ve suffered with chances against them. So we have to recognise that,” he said.
Entire squad is stepping up for the Reds
As Cascarino notes, Liverpool have given up many chances in those three games. Forest will certainly feel that they should have tested Caoimhin Kelleher more. And when they did put their attempts on target, the Republic of Ireland international was equal to it.
Meanwhile, Kelleher was outstanding in the Carabao Cup final win over Chelsea. And many will remember Virgil van Dijk’s captain performance at Wembley for a very long time.
It is encouraging for Liverpool that they have kept themselves at the summit of the league while missing the likes of Alisson Becker, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah.
Several players have definitely stepped up for the Reds in this run since the turn of the year, including those in the defence.
