144 Robbie Earle has lauded Alexis Mac Allister after his performance for Liverpool in their win over Bournemouth, suggesting that he is such a clever player.
Jurgen Klopp’s side made a real statement, scoring four times after the break at the Vitality Stadium. Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota both scored twice for the Premier League leaders.
The scoreline does not tell the story of how good Bournemouth have been over the last few months. But it does show how good Liverpool were across the pitch.

Ibrahima Konate was brilliant at the back. Meanwhile, Diogo Jota continued his amazing run of form since his return from injury. But Alexis Mac Allister was the standout performer in the middle of the park.
Mac Allister was pulling the strings during the first-half. According to Whoscored, the Argentinian made more key passes than anyone else on the pitch on the south coast.
And speaking on The 2 Robbies, Robbie Earle outlined just how big a fan he is of the 25-year-old midfielder.
“Behind that, I thought the midfield got control of the game, Elliott, Jones and Mac Allister,” he said.
“And Mac Allister particularly I thought was excellent today. I thought his passing range, his ability to knit the play together to give confidence to his teammates by keeping possession.
“He wasn’t bought as a six, he’s playing as a six while Endo’s away and whether they’re going to find one or he’s going to be the one, Thiago still hasn’t come back into the team but Mac Allister’s such a clever, intelligent footballer.”
World Cup winner now flying
Mac Allister needed a bit of time to get going following his move from Brighton in the summer transfer window. He was probably not helped by the Reds not signing a holding midfielder in the early stages of the window.
At times, Mac Allister looked a little exposed in that holding role. But he has definitely got better and better as the season has gone on.
And now he is arguably the standout midfielder in a Liverpool side which is flying at the top of the table.
