Despite Liverpool picking up three points at Bramall Lane tonight, Virgil van Dijk was not always a happy figure throughout the game.
Van Dijk ultimately won the match for Jurgen Klopp’s team, who produced a rather indifferent performance at times.

Trent was in his more familiar right-back position at the time and was beaten far too easily on the wing, leading to a dangerous crossing opportunity.
And once the ball has gone into touch, Van Dijk could be seen bellowing at Trent on Amazon Prime’s coverage.
The captain was clearly furious that Trent had allowed the attacker to ghost past him so easily, with little effort to make a challenge.
And it was one of those nights for Klopp’s team, when everything seemed rather lethargic.
But as has often been the case over the years for Liverpool, Van Dijk delivered a winning performance, dragging his team over the line.
And for Trent’s part, he did rarely put a foot wrong otherwise, and perhaps did benefit from his captain’s little reminder.

Of course, Liverpool fans will just be grateful that they were able to secure three points and keep a clean sheet on what could have proved to be a tough night.
Klopp will have been aware of the potential for a ‘new manager bounce’, albeit a familiar scene for Chris Wilder.

Moreover, Darwin Nunez’s late assist for Dominik Szoboszlai will have gone down particularly well – a player who could never be accused of lacking effort.
Van Dijk and his Liverpool teammates will now face a trip to South London on the weekend.
Crystal Palace are enduring a tough run of form, with Roy Hodgson now seemingly facing a bit of pressure.
And as we approach January, Liverpool are now being linked with one quite incredible £85m reinforcement.
