Virgil van Dijk and Dominik Szoboszlai have both sent messages to Harvey Elliott on social media after his cameo display for Liverpool last night.

Liverpool picked up a 2-0 win at Brammall Lane thanks for goals from Virgil van Dijk and Dominik Szoboszlai

Van Dijk opened the scoring in the 37th minute with a well-taken finish after an exceptional delivery from Trent Alexander-Arnold.

It’s fair to say it wasn’t exactly a vintage Liverpool display as they struggled to create opportunities from open play.

Mohamed Salah went close from a corner in the second half and Darwin Nunez was put through on goal by Alexander-Arnold. But the Reds eventually found a second to secure all three points in the 95th minute after Nunez set up Szoboszlai.

Salah didn’t enjoy his best evening and was replaced by Harvey Elliott in the 67th minute.

Now, Van Dijk and Szoboszlai have praised the 20-year-old after a bright cameo display from the bench.

Van Dijk and Szoboszlai impressed with Elliott’s latest Liverpool display

Elliott took to Instagram after last night’s game to express his delight at picking up three points away from home.

He wrote: “Great win on the road. Thanks reds!”

The likes of Ryan Gravenberch and Wataru Endo left comments, while both Van Dijk and Szoboszlai also replied with emojis beneath the post.

Elliott has put in some decent displays for Liverpool this season, registering two assists in 12 Premier League appearances.

The youngster is yet to nail down a starting place in Klopp’s side due to stern competition for a place in midfield.

But the Englishman certainly has a bright future ahead of him and it’s clear he’s highly-rated at Liverpool.

He’s got plenty of minutes under his belt in the Europa League this season and it’s proving to be a useful competition for Klopp when it comes to developing younger players in his squad.
