Finding Jurgen Klopp’s replacement at Liverpool may well be the most unenviable task in football.
How do you replace a legend? You can’t afford to get this call wrong, and, in all honesty, there aren’t many managers of that calibre out there at the moment.
Going for a big name may not be the way to go here, and Liverpool’s best bet may be to go for someone who is stylistically similar to Klopp.
Speaking on ESPN, Steve Nicol has been discussing how Liverpool should replace Klopp after the German announced he was leaving at the end of the season, and the pundit talked up the idea of Roberto De Zerbi coming to Anfield, claiming that the two managers’ styles are fairly similar.

Nicol spoke about the idea of the ‘special’ Brighton boss coming to Anfield.
“The one thing I like about the De Zerbi one would be that you’re getting a manager who’d come in and play, not the same, but a very similar style of football and that means the move from Klopp to another manager I think would be a lot easier for the players,” Nicol said.
Not the worst idea
De Zerbi may not be a top-level manager just yet, but this could be just the opportunity he needs to make the next step in his career.
Indeed, the Italian looks to have all the necessary managerial nous to make it to the very top, and we’re very interested to see what he could actually do with an elite group of players.
As Nicol says, his style of play isn’t a million miles away from what Klopp has been doing at Liverpool for all these years, so the transition between the two coaches could be rather straightforward.
Maybe this is the way Liverpool should go when it comes to replacing Klopp.
