157 Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has heaped praise on a manager who was linked with the Liverpool job until very recently.
The Reds are on the lookout for a new boss this summer. Jurgen Klopp announced in January that he will be on his way out, and he is about to leave a big void at Anfield.
FSG have brought back Michael Edwards to the club and Richard Hughes has also arrived as their new sporting director. They are in charge of finding Klopp’s successor at Liverpool.
Arteta has now admitted that he’s a really big fan of one manager whom the Reds have reportedly decided against appointing this summer.
Mikel Arteta raves about manager who was linked with Liverpool job
Mikel Arteta is the perfect example for clubs who are looking to appoint a young manager.
Arsenal took a chance on the Spaniard back in 2019 after Unai Emery was sacked. Arteta had no managerial experience at that point, but he was still given an opportunity.
That has proved to be one of Arsenal’s best decisions in years.
Arteta has transformed the Gunners into one of the best clubs in the world, and they are fighting Liverpool and Manchester City for the Premier League title now.
Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes are searching for Jurgen Klopp’s successor at Anfield, and Liverpool have been linked with a number of managers.
One of them was Roberto De Zerbi, but multiple reports revealed recently that Liverpool are not focusing on him anymore (Sky Sports).
Only time will tell if that is the right decision, but Arteta, whose side face Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday, has claimed that he is really impressed by De Zerbi.
He said, as quoted by Arsenal.com: “I’m very impressed. He’s a top manager with a top coaching staff.
“I think they’re an unbelievable football club, what they have done deserves incredible credit. The way they run the football club, the decisions they have made and how they have established themselves in the league, and now fighting with the top clubs as well, I think they’ve done a magnificent job.
“I think Roberto has given a very clear style and attractive way of playing football, and they make life very difficult for the opponent.”

Liverpool had to look elsewhere after Xabi Alonso claimed that he will not be leaving Bayer Leverkusen this summer.
Roberto De Zerbi seemed like a strong contender to become the next Liverpool manager at that point. It was even claimed that he was on top of Michael Edwards’ wish list.
However, it looks like Liverpool are no longer interested in him.
David Ornstein claimed on The Athletic FC Podcast that he has been told that Liverpool will not consider De Zerbi to become their next manager.
Journalist Oli Kay then suggested that the reason Liverpool don’t want him is because he “isn’t the type of person they would look for in terms of a personality point of view, he’s outspoken and he’s hot-headed in some ways”.
It will be interesting to see who Liverpool will go after in the coming weeks.
