Liverpool loanee Fábio Carvalho has just produced his best performance yet as Hull City secured a big win in their push to make the Championship play-offs this season.
The Tigers produced a phenomenal display at St Mary’s on Tuesday; putting a dent in Southampton’s automatic-promotion hopes in the process.
And Fábio Carvalho scored his second goal for Hull in the game, with what would prove to be the winner for Liam Rosenior’s side. The 21-year-old – who actually scored his first professional goal at the same ground – managed to put the ball past Gavin Bazunu nine minutes before the break.

“His best 45 minutes in Black and Amber, and clinically fired City two in front. Knitted things together really well. Had to do a bit more defensive work second half but still very good,” they wrote.
Right move for youngster
Carvalho really was excellent against Southampton. No player on either side could match his tally of four key passes, according to Whoscored.
It is arguably the spell that he needed after a tough first half of the season. Carvalho struggled for minutes with RB Leipzig.
There was interest in Carvalho from the Premier League during the January transfer window. But the Reds gave him the green light to move to the Championship. And that decision appears to have been the right one.
He is playing regularly for Hull. And he has now scored what have proved to be two winning goals.
