Liverpool eventually fought their way past Brighton and Hove Albion today to go top of the table ahead of Arsenal facing Man City.
In a close fought game against the Seagulls, it was Mo Salah’s goal which proved to be the difference in the end as he slotted in from Alexis Mac Allister’s pass.
Salah had endured a frustrating first half before he struck as well. Indeed, Ian Wright even suggested the Egyptian forward was showing signs of rust with his finishing.
In the end, Salah came up trumps for the Reds as he so often does.
But while Salah got the plaudits for the winning goal, it was another Liverpool player and Jurgen Klopp signing who was in fine form throughout.

Liverpool will be relying on some of their big names to put in big performances in the title run in.
A lot of this Liverpool squad have experience as well, with the likes of Van Dijk, Alisson and Salah all having experience of winning the title before.
However, against Brighton, it was £55m summer signing Alexis Mac Allister who stepped up to deliver a fine performance on the day.

“Mac Allister is displaying a very clever, assured performance. Liverpool took their time, then Szoboszlai pings it in and Mac Allister does the rest. Gross hasn’t stayed with Salah and finally in that position he finds the back of the net – and Liverpool have got their lead,” Beglin said.

There was a period at the beginning of the season where some at Liverpool were doubting whether Mac Allister was going to fit in.
But since then, he’s shown his quality and proven just why he’s a World Cup winner with the Argentina team.
Today, Mac Allister produced a number of moments of quality on the ball which deserved better. In the end, he got his assist courtesy of Salah’s fine finish, which was just about deserved in the end.
If Mac Allister can keep his levels, keep fit, and continue to contribute in the final third as he did today, then Liverpool might well just get over the line.
