‘Upset’: Journalist thinks 'something strange' has happened to £70m Liverpool player recently

There have been some issues within the Liverpool camp as of late.

Mohamed Salah and Jurgen Klopp had a public touchline spat a couple of weeks ago at West Ham, and now, there’s a suggestion that Darwin Nunez isn’t too happy.

Indeed, the Uruguayan has made headlines this week by deleting a number of pictures from his Instagram of himself in a Liverpool kit.

Understandably, this has led to all sorts of speculation about Nunez’s future, and speaking on the Ranks FC Ultras Podcast, Dean Jones has suggested that something has happened behind the scenes to upset Nunez.

Darwin Nunez may be upset at Liverpool

Jones spoke about what’s been happening with the £70m man recently, claiming that he also noticed a story in the newspapers last week that seemed to be timed rather strangely.

“There has been a development at Liverpool this morning with Darwin Nunez. He’s deleted every picture of himself in a Liverpool kit on Instagram, it’s only him in a Uruguay kit now.

“I think I’ve spoken about this before, there was a strange moment about a week ago where two Liverpool journalists, Chris Bascombe and Paul Joyce, wrote a story about Nunez out of the blue about how he wasn’t a Liverpool signing, he was a Klopp signing. I read that story and it felt like a message.

“Now, over the past few days, Nunez has been heavily linked with Barcelona. Something is going on, I don’t think he’s joining Barcelona, but there’s something strange here, Nunez has clearly been upset by something.”

Darwin Nunez situation is one to watch

Instagram activity isn’t the be-all and end-all when it comes to analysing a player’s future, but it has to be said that Darwin Nunez’s recent purge is strange.

Deleting only the photos of yourself in a Liverpool kit does seem a bit pointed, while, as Jones says, recent stories in the Liverpool press haven’t done the player many favours either.

Jones mentions these links to Barcelona, and, as the old saying goes, there’s no smoke without fire.

This may be nothing, but it might just be worth keeping an eye on Nunez’s situation heading into this summer.
