Tim Howard has shared what he found unusual about the performance of Trent Alexander-Arnold as Liverpool drew with Manchester United on Sunday.
It was almost remarkable how almost every Liverpool player seemed to lack composure whenever they got near the final third at Anfield, as the game ended in a goalless draw.
Trent Alexander-Arnold did actually come agonisingly close to finding the back of the net during the second-half. The 25-year-old looked to place an effort into the bottom corner from just outside the penalty area. However, the brilliant strike just curled around the post and out for a goal kick.

Nevertheless, Tim Howard was not convinced by Alexander-Arnold’s display during the contest, noting on The 2 Robbies podcast that he was nowhere near his best on the ball.

Still the Reds’ most creative player
Some of the statistics suggest Alexander-Arnold probably still had a much better game than many realise.
Admittedly, Whoscored shows that he completed just 78 percent of his passes during the draw, misplacing 19 passes.
However, he made six key passes. No player on either side could match that tally.
Alexander-Arnold has come in for plenty of criticism for his ability as a defender. But Wataru Endo was the only Liverpool player to make more tackles than the England international. One of those challenges from the right-back was particularly crucial as Manchester United broke into the box in the second-half.
But Howard is right. Alexander-Arnold is arguably the best passer in the Premier League, capable of the most outrageous things when he has the ball at his feet. So he should be held to a higher standard.
And he will surely be one of the players particularly disappointed not to make more of an impact as Liverpool missed the chance to go back to the top of the Premier League table.
