The January transfer window opens in just over a week.
Premier League clubs have plenty of business to do next month, and one team that has been linked with a number of new signings is Liverpool.
The Reds rebuilt their midfield over the summer, but there’s still a school of thought that the Merseyside club need to bring in a holding midfielder to replace Fabinho.
Andre Trindade is one player who has been strongly linked as of late, but according to James Pearce, speaking on The Athletic Football Podcast, this deal isn’t likely.
According to Pearce, sources at Liverpool have told him that Andre is unlikely to sign.

Pearce shared what he knows about the £25m Brazilian.
“A lot of fans would say as well the holding midfield role. Liverpool have been repeatedly linked with Andre from Fluminense but again the people I’ve spoken to at Liverpool have said they’re unlikely to go back in for him. He was look on as a possible alternative when they were struggling to do a deal for Romeo Lavia, in the end they moved on from Andre,” Pearce said.
Any new signings?
It sounds as though Andre won’t be the one for Liverpool this January, but will there be any new additions at Anfield next month?
With the Reds looking to challenge for a Premier League title this season, they could certainly do with adding another player to their squad, and it does have to be said that they’re short at both centre-back and in defensive midfield at the moment.
Andre isn’t a player Liverpool have been overly convinced by it would appear, but, as the old saying goes, there’s plenty more fish in the sea.
Liverpool may be a team to keep a serious eye on heading into the January transfer window.
