Ian Wright has suggested that many do not realise how tough it is to do what Mohamed Salah has achieved with Liverpool after his goal at the weekend.
Wright was speaking on The Kelly and Wrighty Show after the Reds came from behind to beat Crystal Palace 2-1 at Selhurst Park on Saturday.
Of course, it proved to be a landmark occasion for Mohamed Salah. The Egyptian scored his 200th goal for Liverpool with his late equaliser. He has reached the feat in just 327 games.
Ian Wright amazed by Mohamed Salah achievement
It says everything about how good Salah has been that he has to be in the conversation when people – much more qualified than this particular writer – put together an all-time Liverpool XI.

“I think people underestimate how tough it is to do what he’s doing and continue to do it, especially with that unbelievable front three, the goals he was scoring, and the way they were playing. The game I watched the other day, and he’s quiet in the game for a while. But in the moments, he came to the fore. And this is what is happening with Liverpool at the moment,” he told The Kelly and Wrighty Show.
Liverpool star still plenty to give for Klopp’s side
It also cannot be forgotten that Salah has barely ever played as a striker for Liverpool. Instead, he has predominantly played on the right for Jurgen Klopp’s side.
And what is frightening is that there are few signs that Salah is going anywhere near the end of his career at the very highest level right now. He already has 11 goals in the top-flight this season.
There have only been three Premier League games so far where Salah has failed to register a goal or an assist.
It is telling that Wright believes that some are still not giving Salah enough credit for what he has done during his Liverpool career to date.
And it is going to be fascinating to see what he will do in what remains of his time on Merseyside.
