The Merseyside club are blessed with plenty of talent from dead-ball sitiations.
Mohamed Salah’s penalties, Trent Alexander-Arnold’s free-kicks and Kostas Tsimikas’ corners are all incredible.
However, according to Harvey Elliott, one of the best set-piece takers at Liverpool is a player who rarely even takes set plays.
Speaking on the Premier League’s YouTube channel, Elliott has been discussing some of the dead-ball specialists at Liverpool, and he says that Dominik Szoboszlai is actually one of the best set-piece takers at the club.
Dominik Szoboszlai’s set-pieces are incredible
Elliott spoke about the Hungarian.
“Trent of course, I’m going to go with Dom again because his set pieces are unbelievable and then maybe Mac Allister,” Elliott said.
What a player
We may not have seen it all that much for Liverpool so far, but make no mistake about it, Szoboszlai’s set-pieces are among the best in the business.
Just watch the £60m man’s highlight reel for RB Leipzig and Hungary. This is a player who is almost laser accurate from set-pieces. He can score free kicks from almost anywhere, and his delivery is also a dream for any teammate.
Unfortuantely, Szoboszlai has plenty of competition for these key roles at Liverpool, so we’ve not been able to see this side of his game all that much so far.
However, Szoboszlai’s set plays are a secret weapon at Liverpool, and we wouldn’t be shocked to see the Reds start to utilise this skill in the near future.
