Garth Crooks was left amazed by the performance of Alisson Becker as Liverpool came from behind to beat Crystal Palace on Saturday.
Crooks was writing for BBC Sport as he included the Brazilian in his team of the week following the brilliant saves he made in either half at Selhurst Park.
Liverpool were handed a big boost ahead of the clash with Palace, with Alisson making his return to the side after missing the wins over Fulham and Sheffield United due to injury.
Garth Crooks lauds Alisson after Liverpool win
Alisson had actually had a bit of a nightmare afternoon against Manchester City during the game in which he sustained the injury. But clearly, he was able to put that performance behind him on Saturday.

However, that was not the only factor which allowed them to get the three points. Alisson made two monumental saves during the game. And with that, Crooks suggested that he was a key reason behind their victory.
“Liverpool are currently sitting pretty one point clear at the top of the table and they owe it all to Alisson. His performance at Selhurst Park on his return from injury was quite outstanding. His save from Jefferson Lerma, which he managed to push on to the post in the first half, was amazing,” he told BBC Sport.
“But the Brazil goalkeeper saved the best for last with an unbelievable stop when he got his hands to a Joachim Andersen header that looked a certain goal.”
Another reminder of Brazilian’s world-class qualities
Peter Schmeichel noted at the weekend just how good a shot-stopper Alisson is. And he certainly lived up to that billing against the Eagles.
And it provided a reminder, if one was needed, of what a game-changing signing the 31-year-old has been for the Reds.
He came in for criticism for his display against Manchester City. However, there is no question that Alisson saves Liverpool a lot more points than he costs them.
Certainly, if he had not been playing on Saturday, there is a decent chance that the result could have been very different.
