'Unbelievable': Andy Gray blown away by how effective £10m Liverpool player was v Man City today

In the end, there was nothing to separate Liverpool and Manchester City as they came out of Anfield with a point apiece today.

City took the lead through a fine goal from John Stones before a bad back pass from Nathan Ake allowed Darwin Nunez to win a penalty which was duly converted by Alexis Mac Allister.

It really felt like a game of two halves as Man City edged the opening 45 minutes before Liverpool came back into things and effectively hammered the away side in the second period. Key to that improved performance was the introduction of both Andy Robertson and Mo Salah from the Liverpool bench.

And speaking to BEIN Sports about that moment, former Everton man Andy Gray said it was unbelievable just how much Robertson managed to impact the game.

“I thought Liverpool were better in the second half and a lot that was to do with the subs Klopp made. I mean, he had so much of the ball, Robertson, it was unbelievable. What a difference he made and Salah gives them something. I think partly the reason they were much better is because those two came on,” Gray said.

Robertson has been a key pillar of the Jurgen Klopp era ever since signing from Hull for just £10m back in 2017.

Andy Robertson is a big plus for Liverpool when fit

Any team in the league would miss a player like Andy Robertson and Liverpool fans and Jurgen Klopp will be delighted to see him back in action.

It’s surely a matter of time before he is back starting as the main left-back again and he showed today just what he brings to the table.

As Gray says here, it was quite amazing how much Robertson got involved for Liverpool and he was a real outlet all second half, along with Luis Diaz.

In the end, a draw wasn’t a bad result for the Reds and it keeps everyone firmly in the title race.

But having a fit Andy Robertson back is some boost for the Reds and could be one of the small details that makes the difference.
