Curtis Woodhouse has slammed Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold for his performance against Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.

The former Sheffield United midfielder was not impressed at all by the way Alexander-Arnold defended in the Premier League match at the Etihad Stadium.

So, what is being said about Liverpool and England international defender Trent Alexander-Arnold? Let’s take a look.

What’s the story?

Well, former Premier League midfielder Curtis Woodhouse has absolutely ripped into Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold.

The former Sheffield United and Birmingham City player was not impressed with Alexander-Arnold’s defending against Manchester City, as you can see below.

In a nutshell TAA

He has to be played further up the pitch. https://t.co/COaaEd2ZN0

Yea 100%! He’s not a defender, not one bone in his body wants to defend

The Premier League match between City and Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday afternoon ended in a 1-1 draw.

It was not the most entertaining of matches, and I believe that a draw was the fair outcome between two of the best and strongest teams in England.

Criticism of Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold vs Manchester City harsh

In my opinion, Curtis Woodhouse is being too harsh on Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold for his defensive performance against Manchester City.

We know that Alexander-Arnold is not the best defensively when he plays at right-back. That is partly due to the way Liverpool play and partly because of how the 25-year-old sees the game.

And, against City on Saturday, the England international did not have the best of times against winger Jeremy Doku. The youngster was a problem for the Liverpool defenders throughout his time on the pitch.

However, Doku did not always have his way. Moreover, Alexander-Arnold was a threat to City going forward. The right-back was moving into midfield and was helping build Liverpool’s attacks.

Oh, Alexander-Arnold scored for Liverpool as well. The Englishman had a pass accuracy of 73.7%, took 66 touches, attempted two dribbles, made three tackles, two interceptions and two clearances, and put in four crosses.
