We’re heading into the final few weeks of the season, and that means that it’s almost time to hand out the end of year awards.
Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year are still to be named, and, this year, there are so many players who are in contention.
Phil Foden, Cole Palmer, Virgil van Dijk and Erling Haaland are all genuine contenders for this award. However, for the first time in a long time, and Arsenal player could well be the winner.
Indeed, the Gunners have been fantastic this season, and a number of their players will certainly be in the mix for the Player of the Year award.
Speaking on the Handbrake Off Podcast, Adrian Clarke has been discussing his vote for the FWA Player of the Year award, and he says that he’s picked Martin Odegaard ahead of Declan Rice as his winner.

Clarke spoke about the £30m Norwegian and why he chose him ahead of Rice.
“I had to put in my vote for the Football Writers’ Award this year, and I’ve been holding off and holding off. I wanted it to be an Arsenal player, and I’m not biased towards that. I think Arsenal have been the best team,” Clarke said.
“I narrowed it down to Declan and Odegaard but that one has tipped me over the edge,
“I’ve cast my vote and I’ve gone for Martin Odegaard. He has been truly exceptional with his on and off the ball work this season,” Clarke said.
Arsenal’s first Player of the Year in a decade
Regardless of if it’s Odegaard, Rice or even Bukayo Saka, it’s great to see so many Arsenal players in this conversation.
Arsenal haven’t had an FWA Player of the Year winner since Robin van Persie in 2012, and the fact that there are now multiple Arsenal players who can genuinely be in this conversation is a sign of just how far the Gunners have come under Mikel Arteta.
The north London club could be about to have their first Player of the Year winner in more than a decade.
