Liverpool have reportedly set their sights on a summer move Bayern Munich’s Joshua Kimmich.
This is according to Christian Falk, who has just taken to X to claim the Reds are interested in the 28-year-old.
As well as Liverpool, Premier League title rivals Manchester City are also eyeing Kimmich, claimed the BILD journalist.
Liverpool bolstered their midfield ranks significantly last summer, doing a great job in replacing those who left Anfield.
However, there’s certainly scope for Reds boss Jurgen Klopp to bring in more reinforcements in the middle of the park, particularly at No. 6.
Falk made it clear that Liverpool – and City – are looking at a summer move for Kimmich, and it does indeed seem like the sort of big move that would be hard to pull off in January.
Kimmich has been with Bayern for close to a decade now, but with his contract expiring in 2025, there’s a good chance he could be allowed to move on in the summer.
The Daily Star recently reported that Bayern value the 28-year-old at £50million, but his price tag is expected to drop to £25million in July.
Kimmich would be a great acquisition for Liverpool, as he is very much proven at the highest level.
In 2022, Julian Nagelsmann told the Bundesliga website about Kimmich: “It’s so important to have a No.6 who wants the ball and has the necessary composure in possession.
“I know he prefers to play in the middle, but I don’t need reminding. I’ve made a note of it (laughs). The great thing is he’s world-class at right-back and in midfield.”
