‘Trouble’: Pundit shares what he noticed about Mo Salah before kick-off vs West Ham on Saturday

Mohamed Salah made headlines for all the wrong reasons on Saturday.

The Egyptian got into a touchline spat with Jurgen Klopp when he was substituted on against West Ham, while his comments after the game only added fuel to the fire.

Salah argued with his manager on the touchline, and, by the sounds of things, trouble was brewing before the game even started.

Indeed, speaking on Off The Ball, David Connolly has been speaking about Salah and his personal experience of working on the game.

Connolly worked on this match as a pundit, and he says that before the game even started he noticed that Salah looked unhappy as he arrived to the stadium.

Mohamed Salah looked unhappy before West Ham game

Connolly spoke about Salah and his mood heading into the match.

“I worked on this game and we had Salah arriving at the stadium. And I said to my commentator beside me ‘oh he doesn’t look happy.’ Even then you knew there was trouble. We had a feeling he wouldn’t start, I said ‘there’s something up here.’ You could tell,” Connolly said.

Mohamed Salah wasn’t going to be happy

It sounds as though Salah had a bee in his bonnet before this game, and, to be honest, we’re not surprised.

Salah is an ultra-competitive player who wants to be at his best at all times, of course he’s going to react negatively to being on the bench.

Yes, he shouldn’t take that out on his manager, but, at the same time, at least he’s showing that he cares.

Salah does need to figure out how to regulate his emotions in these sorts of situations, but, at the same time, we can’t blame any player for being upset about being left on the bench in a big game, especially when your team goes on to drop points.
