Under the circumstances, a two week absence is probably the best news possible for the Liverpool fullback.
With Liverpool already without starting goalkeeper Alisson Becker, first choice striker Diogo Jota, and promising young midfielder Harvey Elliott due to injuries, the enforced removal of Trent Alexander-Arnold on the weekend against Aston Villa due to injury was concerning.
However, a scan on the player’s damaged hamstring has returned relatively positive results and while the fullback’s issue isn’t nothing, it is considered minor enough that Alexander-Arnold is now only expected to miss around two weeks of action as he recovers from it.
That means the Scouse right back, who has been reportedly playing with minor discomfort ever since picking up a knock in the England match against Finland in October, will not join the national team for the November internationals and games against Greece and Ireland.
It’s also a timeline that is likely to mean that Alexander-Arnold is touch and go for the first week or so following the November break, with the Reds returning to action on the 24th at Southampton before hosting heavy hitters Real Madrid and Manchester City back-to-back.
