The club is said to be interested in Matias Fernandez-Prado.
The clock is winding down on the transfer window, and Liverpool have yet to bring any new players into the team. One player that they are said to be looking at it the Genk youngster Matias Fernandez-Prado.
The 19-year-old winger made his breakthrough into the Genk first team last season. Journalist Chris Wheatley has claimed that Arne Slot and the Liverpool transfer team are monitoring him along with relegated teams Southampton and Leicester. Other European teams, including Bayer Leverkusen, have also registered interest in the player.
While a promising young player can boost a squad, his position on the left wing is not one that is currently a priority. If Liverpool are stacked anywhere, it’s in our talented frontline. Slot is likely to be looking at the midfield and defense before stocking up on forwards.

Fernandez-Prado signed a contract extension with Genk that will keep him there until the summer of 2026.
Speaking about the player, Genk sporting director, Arnar Vidarsson, said, “If a club comes tomorrow with an excellent offer for Matias, he will be sold. I understand that this is not always easy for the supporters, but you have to accept that and applaud. It is a good sign that a youth player from our own club can be sold for a large amount.”
It sounds as though he is preparing for a departure before August 30th. Whether it will happen and whether it will be to Liverpool remains to be seen.
