Liverpool’s chances of landing a deal for Takefusa Kubo in the future may have just got a little harder after some glowing praise from Xavi.

The Barcelona manager was speaking after his side’s 1-0 win over Kubo’s Real Sociedad yesterday and labelled the winger as ‘world class’.

Speaking via Fabrizio Romano on X, Xavi praised the Japan international’s ability with and without the ball.

He said: “Trust me, Kubo is world class player. With and without the ball, he’s top top level. He scores goals and provides assists.”

“Kubo’s time at La Masia for Barca? I wasn’t at the club at the time but we will come across these situations, for sure.”

Of course, Liverpool have been linked with Kubo as a potential replacement for Mohamed Salah when he one day departs.

Kubo has been in scintillating form for Socidedad this season after leaving Barcelona for a modest fee in 2022.

And having scored five goals in 11 La Liga appearances this season, the winger is once again attracting attention.

Zinedine Zidane once labelled Kubo a ‘very interesting’ talent, and along with Xavi’s praise, fans will see why Liverpool are reportedly interested.

Xavi’s comments suggest Kubo would be a good fit at Liverpool

Should Kubo ever arrive at Liverpool, his praised work rate would surely be very welcome.

It would certainly be an intimidating task arriving at Anfield for any winger in the coming years given the options that do already exist.

Jurgen Klopp has several excellent wingers at his disposal, and it’ll be interesting to see who he picks in the visit to Luton Town today.

Darwin Nunez has been in fine form of late, something Cody Gakpo certainly wasn’t surprised by.

And fans may now be keen to see the striker enjoy an extended run of starts in the side.

Klopp’s squad now looks very well set for the future after a productive summer.

And it’ll certainly be interesting to see if Liverpool do progress with their reported interest in Kubo in the near future, especially given Xavi’s praise.

Although, Klopp may be targeting a defensive overhaul in his squad next.
