Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has heaped praise on Roberto Firmino’s involvement in a goal Liverpool scored against his old side in the infamous 5-0 defeat.
Jurgen Klopp‘s men have inflicted a lot of pain on Manchester United in recent years, haven’t they? Solskjaer was at the end of a 5-0 hammering just a few weeks before he lost his job, and Firmino was heavily involved in the opening goal of that game.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer did a lot of good when he was the manager of Manchester United.
He finished third and second in his first two full seasons in charge of the club, which is an extraordinary achievement considering how much the other managers since Sir Alex Ferguson have struggled.
His final few weeks as Manchester United boss, however, were extremely difficult.
The worst defeat, one that still hurts some supporters, was the 5-0 humiliation they were dealt by Liverpool at Old Trafford. They were completely outclassed in that game.
Solskjaer believes Roberto Firmino‘s incredible move for the Reds’ first goal made all the difference.
The Brazilian picked up the ball inside the United half, turned, passed it brilliantly with the outside of his right foot into Mohamed Salah, and that opened up the space for the Egyptian to set up Naby Keita to score.
Solskjaer said on Stick to Football on The Overlap: “First half against Liverpool, strangely enough, is 50-50 possession-wise, we created a few decent chances.
“We had a massive (chance), Mason Greenwood I think. Cristiano (Ronaldo) had a half-decent chance.
“But then, I think it’s the first goal, Firmino’s turn and twist and just avoided the offside, it’s like top, top-class.”

Roberto Firmino will go down as a Liverpool legend.
The Brazilian, who left the Reds for free last summer, played 362 games for Liverpool and was directly involved in 180 goals in all competitions. He won almost everything during his time at the club.
Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane get a lot of praise for Liverpool’s attacks in their prime, but neither would’ve been as good as they were if Firmino wasn’t in the side. He was many people’s favourite player.
Solskjaer is right, Firmino really was a top, top class attacker for Liverpool when he was at the club!
