Robbie Earle believes that Liverpool now have a young player who has the potential to save the club around £60 million in the future if he continues to develop at his current rate.

Jurgen Klopp definitely appears to be handing over an amazing group of players to his successor at Anfield. In fact, he may be handing over the Premier League champions by the time he steps aside in the summer.

Not only do they have superstars such as Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk, but they also have a number of younger players who should only improve in the years to come.

Jarell Quansah could save Liverpool millions

Conor Bradley has been outstanding in recent weeks. Meanwhile, Harvey Elliott came off the bench to provide two assists in Saturday’s win over Burnley.

But there was also a really impressive showing from Jarell Quansah at the back, with the 21-year-old coming in for the suspended Ibrahima Konate against the Clarets.

Quansah was lauded by Trent Alexander-Arnold after making his Premier League debut at Newcastle earlier this season. And he has continued to impress in the months since.

Speaking on The 2 Robbies podcast, Robbie Earle named Quansah as his under-appreciated player of the week. And he insisted that Liverpool could have a really special talent on their hands.

“Jarell Quansah is a 21-year-old centre-back. Born in Warrington, which is just outside Liverpool, played for all the England youth teams, is starting to make a mark in the first-team when he plays. Played a couple of times in Europe, seen him now in the Premier League, I think he’s got one Premier League goal to his name. He’s a young man who might save Liverpool $70, $80 million if he continues to grow and learn and wait his time and keep improving,” he said.

“He looks like he’s got all the things that you would want for a top-class centre-back. Good size, good pace, good mobility, decent on the ball. Bit of presence about him. And he’s one of those who I don’t ever see too much drama around him, or poor decisions. He looks like a 26, 27-year-old who’s come in the team. I think the biggest compliment you can give him is he doesn’t stand out at all in the team like somebody who you’re nursing to get through.”

Youngster has the perfect mentor

Certainly, Quansah appears to have the perfect player to learn from alongside him. Virgil van Dijk has previously praised Quansah. And there does appear to be some similarities between the pair, particularly in their stature.

Of course, there is a big question mark over what Liverpool’s future now looks like with Klopp leaving at the end of the season.

But if his successor builds on what Klopp has put in place, Liverpool are in a fantastic position. And players such as Quansah could quickly become key figures in shaping that future.
