It has been reported this week that Liverpool are actively trying to find out whether Jude Bellingham has a release clause.
That’s according to The Telegraph, who claim that Liverpool are currently ‘leading the race’ to sign the Borussia Dortmund man.
Bellingham offered yet another reminder of his quality in midweek, scoring against Manchester City in the Champions League.
In an interview with Five on YouTube, journalist David Ornstein was asked whether he is aware of a release clause in Bellingham’s Dortmund contract as it stands.

He said: “Every club I speak to at that high level, they love him. He’s their dream signing.
“Borussia Dortmund don’t, to my knowledge, have that release clause situation they had with Erling Haaland and others over the years.
“These things are meant to be – as happened with Jack Grealish – confidential. So even if people are saying there is or isn’t one, people involved are always likely to deny it.”
As Ornstein said, there are examples of release clauses being in contracts but not being made public or eventually proving to be cheaper than widely assumed.
It might also be the case that – speaking purely hypothetically – Bellingham has a release clause which comes into effect this summer, as he is expected to leave.
But if Bellingham shines at the World Cup, his market value could grow further and he is almost certain to spark a bidding war if there is no release clause.
