Arsenal and Liverpool are set to lock horns in a huge Premier League game on Sunday, with so much at stake.

The Gunners will be hosting the Reds in the big 4:30pm kick-off between the two title-chasers at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal have won their last two in the league to return to title contention, currently sitting five points behind table-topping Liverpool.

Victory for Mikel Arteta‘s charges would blow the title race wide open, with Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa also in contention.

Arsenal v Liverpool – ‘we’ve already seen how close it is’

Chris Sutton has previewed the game on BBC Sport, looking at how Arsenal and Liverpool have been faring in the build-up to the game.

The pundit reckons the Gunners will have just enough to get the better of the Reds, predicting a 2-1 home win.

“Liverpool look in great shape at the moment,” wrote Sutton.

“They really impressed me against Chelsea, and they have still got Mohamed Salah to come back from the injury he picked up at the Africa Cup of Nations.

“Arsenal, on the other hand, did not really fire against Nottingham Forest on Tuesday but they still got the job done, which is the important thing.

“We’ve already seen how close it is between these two sides when they’ve met before this season.

“And the Gunners missed a load of chances when Liverpool came to the Emirates and won in the FA Cup last month.

“Mikel Arteta’s side still don’t have a centre-forward but, this time, I think they will finish some of the opportunities they create.

“I’m still not entirely sure why I am going with Arsenal to win this game, because Liverpool will score too.

“But the Gunners definitely need the points more and I think they will just about do enough to get them.”

Both Arsenal and Liverpool will be confident of victory

As far as Premier League fixtures go, Arsenal v Liverpool is up there with the best of them, particularly at present with both sides strong.

The Gunners have struggled against the Reds in recent years. They have only won two of their last 17 league games against Liverpool, both coming at the Emirates in July 2020 and October 2022.

However, have won all seven of their Premier League home fixtures this season against teams from outside London, so let’s see whether they can continue on that impressive run.
