132 Liverpool face Arsenal this weekend in what could be the biggest game of the season so far.
It’s as simple as this, whoever wins this match will be top of the Premier League on Christmas Day, and, more often than not, the league leaders over the festive period go on to win the title.
Arsenal and Liverpool are two very evenly-matched teams and it would take a brave man to try to predict this game.
Writing in his BBC Sport column, Chris Sutton has had a go at predicting the outcome of this match, and he says that he fancies Liverpool to edge this one.
Sutton backs Liverpool
Sutton shared his verdict on how this game will go.
“Arsenal will be bolder than Manchester United were at Anfield last week, but then Sheffield United would probably show more attacking intent than Erik ten Hag’s side did,” Sutton wrote.
“I still think it will be pretty cagey because the Gunners are not as expansive as they were last season, but they still carry a threat.
“There is this argument that they are lacking a centre-forward, which I get, but they have shown they can get goals from all areas of their team.
“So, I think this will be tight, but Liverpool are at home and I just don’t see them drawing another blank. They only know one way to play, they will take the game to Arsenal – and I think they will edge it.”
Irresistible at Anfield
This game should be close, but even the biggest Arsenal fan would have to admit that the Gunners come into this game as slight underdogs.
Simply put, Liverpool are almost unbeatable at Anfield, and while Jurgen Klopp may have gotten on the fans’ backs in recent weeks, Liverpool are still absolutely incredible at home.
The Reds won’t have it all their way this weekend, but they will be slight favourites going into this one.
