Liverpool face Manchester City this weekend, and it’s fair to say the Reds face an uphill battle if they are to win this game.
Indeed, going away to the treble-winning champions of Europe is never an easy task, and, as you can imagine, the Merseyside club will need to be at their best to get a result here.
Speaking on Stick To Football, Jamie Carragher has been previewing this game, and he says that Liverpool will do well to get a draw against the champions of England, claiming that Alisson will need to be at his best if Liverpool are going to get anything against City.

Carragher gave his verdict on this match and the £63m man.
“It will be tough. I think the best Liverpool will get here is a draw. Liverpool’s record there is poor. Defensively, for me, they have the best goalkeeper in the world, Liverpool, they will definitely need him. Virgil van Dijk hasn’t been far away from his best. I think it will be difficult defensively for Liverpool, so I think it will be a draw,” Carragher said.
Difference maker
It’s as simple as this, if Man City can’t score, they can’t win.
Alisson is good enough to keep any team out, and if he’s at his best. Liverpool could well keep a clean sheet at the Etihad.
Obviously, football is never that simple and there’s only so much a goalkeeper can do, but, at the same time, if Alisson does make a few big saves, that could turn the tide for Liverpool.
As Carragher says, Alisson is arguably the best goalkeeper in the world, and if he’s playing at his very best in this game, Liverpool’s chances of getting a win will drastically increase.
