Liverpool have been linked with BK Hacken forward Momodou Sonko in recent days.

According to Fotboll Direkt, Jurgen Klopp‘s Reds are among the clubs who are trying to sign the 18-year-old.

Now, Sonko himself has admitted that he has friends who support Liverpool who have urged him to join the Reds.

However, the youngster – speaking to Swedish outlet Sportbladet – said he also has peers who support Barcelona who have said the same thing.

With regards to Liverpool’s interest specifically, Sonko said he “would laugh” if Klopp called him privately, and believes it’s “unlikely” that it would happen.

“I have some who are Liverpool fans and some Barca fans,” said Sonko. “They want me to go to the club they support. It’s kind of funny.

“I get a lot written to me from my friends. It’s fun at first but it can be too much too.

“If he (Klopp) were to call privately, I would laugh. It is quite unlikely.

“It is easier for him to reach my agents than me. I haven’t received that call anyway.”

Liverpool set sights on exciting BK Hacken talent Momodou Sonko

Liverpool have apparently sent officials to Gothenburg in order to register their interest in Sonko.

The youngster’s contract runs until 2025 and Hacken have apparently set an asking price in the region of £6million

Liverpool are yet to make an official bid, but their meetings with Hacken have apparently been productive.

However, the Reds aren’t the only club in the race for Sonko. Apparently, RB Leipzig and Bologna have also approached Hacken over the player.

It’s good to hear that Liverpool are active in the youth player market as they look to find yet more gems who they hope can become superb senior players.

Sonko has been making waves since coming through the ranks at Hacken. At just 18 years of age, he already has 44 senior outings, 14 goals and eight assists under his belt.

For just £6million, Sonko seems like a bargain, and hopefully Liverpool can get a deal over the line.
