Mark Schwarzer has shared whether he believes Alisson Becker or Ederson is the more complete goalkeeper as he lauded the Liverpool and Manchester City stars.
There is absolutely no question that Alisson Becker and Ederson are the two best goalkeepers in the Premier League right now.
Certainly, Liverpool signing the Brazilian is looked back upon as a big moment in the club’s recent history. The Reds were reaching Champions League finals before his arrival. But securing his signature played a key role in Jurgen Klopp’s men taking that next step.
Mark Schwarzer ranks Alisson ahead of Ederson
Of course, it is remarkable that the two goalkeepers both play for Brazil. It was Ederson who acted as the understudy during the most recent World Cup in 2022.

“I think Alisson, Ederson, I rate them very highly. I think they’re outstanding goalkeepers. And I think, all-round outstanding goalkeepers I have to say. I think Alisson is probably more of the complete package from my perspective of what I like as a goalkeeper,” he said.
Pair have plenty of big games left in their careers
It does feel like a flip of the coin when it comes to who is the better goalkeeper. Ederson is so good with his feet that the £35 million man can act as something of a playmaker. Meanwhile, Alisson is capable of the most miraculous saves.
It is no surprise that they are the number ones of the two most successful Premier League clubs of the last decade.
Schwarzer obviously played in a different era, when goalkeepers were not as strong with their feet. So it is potentially not that surprising that he is more of an admirer of Alisson.
But there is absolutely no question that the pair have helped set the standard worldwide in recent years. And with Alisson the older of the two at 31, there is no reason why they cannot continue to provide the yardstick for some time yet.
