The Reds are flying high at the top of the Premier League, and after a dodgy season last time around, they have re-established themselves as one of the best teams in the world.
Liverpool’s top players have stepped up to the plate this season, and it has to be said that the Merseyside club’s top stars are, once again, looking like world-class talents.
Speaking on his podcast, Gary Neville has been debating which of Liverpool’s players fit into that world-class bracket, and he reckons that there are three players in the Reds’ squad who are at that level.
Liverpool have three world class players
Neville named Alisson Becker alongside Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah as the world-class players in this Liverpool squad.
“Before the game we did a piece and we said that they have three world class players Liverpool, Alisson, Van Dijk and Salah, Van Dijk has been back to his best the past month or two, Alisson is the best goalkeeper in the world and then they have someone who hits numbers from wide areas week-in week-out, it’s unbelievable really,” Neville said.
Big omission
There’s no doubt about it, Van Dijk, Salah and Alisson are all world-class, but we can’t help but think there is one glaring omission in Neville’s list here.
Trent Alexander-Arnold surely has to be considered as a world-class player at this point. He’s delivered the goods each and every season for Liverpool, and there really aren’t many players like him in world football.
It’s not ridiculous to say that Alexander-Arnold may be the best right-back to ever play in the Premier League, and if he’s not world-class, we don’t know what else he can do to get to that level.
The Reds are very lucky to have all of these players, and they’re all playing a massive part in this current push for the title.
