The January transfer window is almost upon us, and Liverpool have work to do.
The Reds have started this season brilliantly, and it really does feel as though they’re one or two signings away from making something special happen.
Liverpool could do with a new centre-back to add depth to what is a depleted area of their squad, while there is also still a hole in their squad in terms of a holding midfielder.
Speaking on the BBC Radio Five Live Football Daily Podcast, Nigel Reo-Coker has been discussing what Liverpool should do in the January transfer window, and the pundit has named Joao Palhinha as a player he thinks Jurgen Klopp needs to go and get.

Reo-Coker shared his verdict on the £17m man.
“It’s exactly the same sentiment from me, I think Palhinha is the one they need, they need to address that central midfield. That’s been the biggest problem, they need a ball winner who will disrupt play but comfortable to get on the ball and make things happen, that’s been the biggest problem this season,” Reo-Coker said.
Won’t be easy
Palhinha could be just what the doctor ordered at Liverpool.
The Portuguese midfielder is the ultimate destroyer in the middle of the park.
Unfortunately, getting this deal done won’t be easy.
Palhinha is one of Fulham’s most important players, and after knocking back Bayern Munich in the summer, the Whites managed to convince their star man to sign a new contract.
Fulham held firm in the summer when Bayern Munich came calling, and they would do the same if Liverpool were to come in for Palhinha in the January window.
This could be the ideal signing for Liverpool to make in the winter window, but getting Palinha out of Craven Cottage would be easier said than done.
