Diogo Jota may not play again this season.
The Portuguese attacker is set for months on the sidelines according to Jurgen Klopp, and that’s a huge blow as Liverpool chase a historic quadruple.
The attacker has been in red hot form for the Merseyside club as of late, and the fact that he’s now injured is a severe dent to the Reds’ title hopes.
Speaking on the Footballer’s Football Podcast, Tom Cairney has been discussing Jota’s recent injury, and he says that the £40m man is indeed one of the most underrated players in the Premier League.

Cairney spoke about the Liverpool attacker.
“I think one of the most underrated players in the Premier League they’ve just lost and that’s Jota. I think he’s fantastic. The most underrated player. When you play against him, he’s capable of anything. He has that Suarez thing about him where he can bounce it off your shin five times and go in one on one,” Cairney said.
Incredible
Cairney isn’t wrong, Jota is an incredible player who sometimes doesn’t get the credit he deserves.
He’s not as clinical as Mohamed Salah, he’s not as divisive as Darwin Nunez and he’s not as dazzling as Luis Diaz, but he’s an incredible blend of everything you’d want in a striker.
Yes, he doesn’t get the spotlight in the same way some of his teammates do, but he’s an incredibly reliable striker who has been arguably Liverpool’s best player as of late.
Luckily, the Reds should be able to cope without Jota so long as Nunez, Diaz, Salah and Cody Gakpo manage to stay fit, but their chances of competing on all four fronts would be much higher if Jota was fit and available for selection.
