Thomas Frank has issued his verdict after being asked about how he feels to see himself linked with the Liverpool job as Jurgen Klopp prepares to leave Anfield in the summer.
Jurgen Klopp, of course, shocked the football world when he announced last month that he would be stepping aside as Reds boss at the end of the season.
Unsurprisingly, a host of names have been linked with the post. It is going to be one of the most exciting opportunities for any manager in the world.
Thomas Frank reacts to links with Liverpool job
Xabi Alonso is the standout candidate for the Liverpool job given his connection to the club and the amazing work he is doing at Bayer Leverkusen. But there are other contenders.

The Dane was asked by Sky Sports about seeing his name in the frame for the Reds job. And while he suggested that he cannot help but be honoured to be mentioned, he insisted that he is only focused on his work at the Gtech Community Stadium.
“There’s a lot of rumours out there. I think we all have kind of an ego. And the ego likes that little sugar. ‘Oh, you’re linked with that, nice’,” he said.
“But at the end of the day, I’m at Brentford, very happy here. Do I have ambitions? Yes. Am I going to stay at Brentford forever? Maybe. Probably not. So who knows what happens in the future. What I know is that I’m here at Brentford and I’m very happy with it.”
Anyone other than Xabi Alonso may face uphill battle
Frank feels as though he should be an outsider for the post. Ultimately, Alonso seems like the obvious choice. And turning to anyone else would be a gamble given how many boxes the Spaniard appears to tick.
But if Liverpool do make a move for Frank, he is surely going to find it nearly impossible to turn down. The Liverpool job does not come along very often. By the time Klopp steps aside, the club will have had just two managers in 12 years.
There is no question that Frank does deserve an opportunity at a top club. But some Liverpool fans may well feel that there is another step for the 50-year-old before he proves that he is ready for that elite level.
