'That's what we need': Andy Robertson says £10m Liverpool player was simply 'different class' v Burnley today

Liverpool eventually saw off Burnley today to make it another win in the Premier League and clamber back to the summit of the table.

Two second half goals ensured Liverpool saw off a resilient Clarets side, who remain on level points with Sheffield United at the bottom of the table.

For Liverpool, the introduction of Harvey Elliott seemed to change the game in their favour.

And speaking about his Liverpool teammate Elliott after the game, Reds star Andy Robertson had nothing but praise for the former Fulham man.

Andy Robertson praises Harvey Elliott

Speaking to Liverpool’s official media channels after the game, Robertson admitted that Elliott’s attitude and quality was just what the Reds needed.

“The last couple of weeks I’ve been coming off the bench and it’s not easy, but Harv always seems to make an impact. I thought he was different class in the second half. He took the game by the scruff of the neck, started creating things, started ticking us over. He was excellent the wee man so fair play to him. His attitude’s always spot on, he always gives his all for this team and that’s what we need, it’s a full squad effort,” Robertson said.

Getting better and better

There was a reason why Fulham wanted £10m for Elliott before he got snapped up for less than £5m by Liverpool as a 16-year-old.

It’s been a bit of a slow burner but now, Harvey Elliott is starting to show moments of class that show why Liverpool wanted him so much.

Coming into this Reds side and making an impact is a hard thing to do but today, and in recent weeks, Elliott has done that really well.

Key for Elliott now is finding consistency in his performances and even making sure he’s a regular in the XI.

At Liverpool, that is always going to be hard but if he can keep impacting games like he did today, then Elliott will soon be forcing Klopp’s hand.
