Alexis Mac Allister put in perhaps his best performance in a Liverpool shirt against Bournemouth at the weekend.
The Argentine ran the game against the Cherries from a deep midfield position, and his passing at times was a joy to watch for Liverpool.
The midfielder started in a deeper role against Bournemouth, and speaking on Premier League Productions, Owen Hargreaves has compared his passing during this game to both Steven Gerrard and Paul Scholes as Mac Allister played numerous raking balls out wide that stretched the play brilliantly and opened up gaps in this team.

The pundit spoke highly of the World Cup winner.
“That is a stunning ball from a brilliant football player, that’s as good a pass as you will see,” Hargreaves said.
“I think in a game like this against Bournemouth this position suits him, but against a world-class team now. You wouldn’t think that ball is on, but the quality and the pace of it, that’s Paul Scholes, that’s Steven Gerrard,” Hargreaves said.
Incredible
It’s remarkable watching Mac Allister play in this way in this position against a team that is willing to give him time.
When he’s given time on the ball, the Argentine can pick out any pass, and while he’s not a natural number six when he has to act as a destroyer, when he’s asked to play as more of a deep-lying playmaker, he can do magical things with a football.
The £35m man is quickly becoming one of the Reds’ most important players, and while many expected the Reds to fall apart in the midfield without Wataru Endo in that holding role, they’re looking as good as ever with Mac Allister dropping deeper.
The Reds are on the verge of something special this season, and Mac Allister has played a massive part in that.
