Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was full of praise for Trent Alexander-Arnold and his team after drawing with Manchester City today.
The Reds stayed in the game at 1-0 down and got their rewards when Trent fired into the bottom corner late in the day to snatch a share of the spoils.
For Alexander-Arnold, it capped a difficult day really where Jeremy Doku had caused him problems defensively, but where he still had an impact himself in the final third.
A lot has been made of Trent’s position this season with him stepping into midfield a bit.
And speaking about the England man, his manager Jurgen Klopp admitted he was delighted with how Alexander-Arnold played.

Speaking to LFC’s official website, Klopp had the following to say on Alexander-Arnold.
“In the second half we made that a bit clearer how we want to do that, with Trent more in that position already and taking the risk in the last line but not in between the lines. Then we scored a goal, that was a very positive thing. Trent scored it. Trent was super-influential today. Not only in the goal – around the goal, in all situations he was a really important player and a really good game of him,” Klopp said.
A top performance from a top player
Trent was indeed excellent in the game and while he might have his flaws defensively at times, he showed just why he gets picked every week.
Doku did cause issues but ultimately, nothing to really change the game and there were also times Trent dealt with the threat as well.
It’s going to be interesting to see how Klopp uses Alexander-Arnold going into the rest of this season. And even more interesting how Gareth Southgate looks to use him with England.
For now, Trent just needs to keep doing what he’s doing. Today felt like a big one for him and Liverpool and there’s a lot for them to take from the game.
