‘Super athlete’: Danny Murphy says he’d absolutely take £12m Aston Villa player at Liverpool now

Aston Villa are flying at the moment.

The Midlands club are within touching distance of challenging for the Premier League title this season, and there’s a lot to like about Villa.

The big clubs are starting to grow concerned about Unai Emery’s side, and speaking on Five, Danny Murphy has been discussing which Villa player he would bring to his club – Liverpool.

Murphy says that while Jacob Ramsey is his favourite player at Villa, Ezri Konsa is the one player he would bring to Anfield right now.

Konsa to Liverpool

Murphy shared his verdict on the £12m man.

“Who is the one player you’d take from Villa and bring to your clubs?” Murphy was asked.

“Ramsey is my favourite player there’ he’s really good, but from a defensive point of view who has improved for me and I couldn’t see it is Konsa. How cool is he? He’s a super athlete, good on the ball, he’s calm and one-on-one he’s cool,” Murphy said.

Great fit

Konsa has improved so much this year, and it’s now not outrageous to say that he’d actually be a great fit at Liverpool.

With Joel Matip injured and Trent Alexander-Arnold playing in a new hybrid midfield position, the Reds could really do with a defender who can play right-back and centre-back to a high level in the way Konsa can.

Of course, getting Konsa out of Villa Park at the moment is going to be a tough task as he’s such an important player to Villa’s title push, but if Liverpool are going to indeed dip into the defensive market in the January transfer window, they could do a lot worse than going and getting Konsa.

The Aston Villa ace could be just what the doctor ordered at Liverpool, but this would be a difficult deal to do.
