Ally McCoist has suggested that he was actually really impressed by the performance of Ibrahima Konate as Liverpool beat Bournemouth on Sunday.
Jurgen Klopp’s side made a real statement with their performance at the Vitality Stadium. They went into the game with a point to prove, with Liverpool missing the likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Wataru Endo and Mohamed Salah amongst others. Salah and Alexander-Arnold, in particular, have been unbelievable this season.
But Liverpool secured a superb win, with Darwin Núñez and Diogo Jota scoring twice each to bag a massive three points.

And speaking on talkSPORT (broadcast on 22/1; 6:12), Ally McCoist suggested that he was so impressed by the Frenchman’s display on the south coast.
“Do you know who I thought played well and it’s maybe kind of a strange thing to say while we’re talking about the forwards, I thought Konate played well at the back,” he said.
“I did, I thought he looked really solid, couple of good tackles. They were really, really comfortable I felt.”
Keeping centre-back fit could be a game-changer for Reds
The statistics certainly show that Konate produced a colossal performance. According to Whoscored, he completed more passes than anyone else on the pitch.
Meanwhile, he won eight aerial duels and made nine clearances. There was also one brilliant challenge inside the box in the second-half when Bournemouth broke into the penalty area.
It is vital that Konate can enjoy some luck with his fitness. Jarell Quansah has done well whenever he has come in. But he is still a youngster learning his trade.
Konate is showing exactly why Liverpool brought him to the club. And if he and van Dijk play the majority of the rest of the season together, the Reds may well be the clear favourites to go on and win the title.
