Xabi Alonso has been at the centre of plenty of speculation as of late.
The Spaniard is seen as one of the brightest young managers in all of Europe, and there are two upcoming vacancies that would suit him to a tee.
Indeed, two of his former clubs are about to change manager with Jurgen Klopp set to leave Liverpool this summer and Thomas Tuchel set to leave Bayern Munich.
Both teams have been credited with an interest in Alonso, but where will he go?
According to Ben Jacobs, speaking on The Debrief, Alonso would actually prefer a move to Liverpool at this moment in time.

Jacobs shared what he knows about the manager.
“My gut instinct is that if he chooses to leave and it’s a straight shootout between Liverpool and Bayern he will pick Liverpool, that is my gut instinct after speaking to sources. If he’s going to move, he will move countries, and if Liverpool want Alonso, they will get Alonso,” Jacobs said.
Makes sense
This does make a lot of sense.
Alonso does have a soft spot for Bayern Munich, but he’s establishing himself as a legend at Bayer Leverkusen, and he would be undoing a lot of that good work if he were to leave for Bayern Munich at the end of an amazing season.
Leaving for a domestic rival leaves a sour taste in the mouth, whereas a move over to England to reunite with Liverpool would be much more palatable for Leverkusen supporters.
Whether or not Alonso even leaves Leverkusen remains to be seen, but if he is to make a switch this summer, it sounds as though he could be headed to Anfield rather than the Allianz Arena.
